Consciousness First: A New Year of Living Intentionally
Share

I welcome you to a brand new year. January 2026, a threshold moment filled with possibility, anticipation, and, for some, a subtle nervousness about what lies ahead. New beginnings often stir both enthusiasm and uncertainty. Those feelings are natural—it’s the soul standing at the edge of expansion, sensing that something new is asking to be born through us.

This month, and indeed this year, we begin with a simple yet transformative orientation. Consciousness First. Consciousness First means recognizing that we are a field of infinite consciousness. We are not the content passing through our awareness, we are Awareness Itself—the vast, boundless presence through which all experiences arise. Thoughts, emotions, circumstances, and conditions move through consciousness, but they are not the source of who we are. We must remember that wherever we are working, whatever we are facing, and whatever we are healing or creating in our lives, our consciousness comes first.

God-consciousness is everywhere, omnipresent and all-inclusive. We are emanations of this Divine Presence, sharing the same infinite nature, the same unlimited qualities, and the same creative intelligence in Its totality. To begin a new year consciously is to choose to live from that awareness, not occasionally, but as a way of life. This is what it means to live intentionally.

Over the years, I have said that many people suffer from “intention deficit disorder.” Rather than being guided from within, they are often controlled by external circumstances, people, places, events, and conditions. Instead of being pulled by an inner vision, they are pushed around by outer demands. Intention is the activation of consciousness in a particular direction. It is a deliberate alignment of awareness with what we are here to become. When we live with intention, priorities begin to shift. What truly matters rises to the surface, and what is no longer essential begins to fade into the background. With intention, perception changes, and as perception changes, experience changes. We begin to see life differently, and therefore we live life differently.
Through intention, we are vibrationally drawn by what some call a ‘strange attractor,’ a field of possibility that already exists within the quantum realm. So even what would appear un-manifested is still nevertheless real.

By consciously intending, we make ourselves more available to That which is seeking expression through us. We begin to carry the frequency of our own unfolding, ‘our greater yet to be,’ as the most important quality in our awareness. This does not mean that other aspects of our life are unimportant. Careers, relationships, health, and creativity all matter. Yet underneath all that we seek to achieve, manifest, and express in the outer world is a deeper knowing: that our spiritual growth and evolution are primary. When we live from this awareness, we tap into our built-in intentionality. Everything in the Universe has an inherent intentionality. Our built-in intention as spiritual beings having a human incarnation is to flower into our Christ consciousness, allowing the light of divine love, wisdom, and power to shine uniquely through us. This uniqueness is not an accident, it is our gift, our calling, our superpower.

As we begin this year together, let us hold this simple yet profound question in our hearts: what does Life want to express or become as me? Feel the pull of that question. Let it vibrate within your being. Intend it consciously as you walk out into the world each day. As you do so, you'll be met with untold miracles born of a shift in perception, an expansion of peace, and deepened alignment with Truth.

Peace and blessings to each of you! Live consciously, live intentionally, and live fully.
